At least according to The Brewers association, they are:
Widmer Brothers Brewing in Oregon heads the list, followed by Pyramid Breweries (Washington), New Belgium Brewing
(Colorado), Boulevard Brewing (Missouri), Deschutes Brewery (Oregon),
Kalamazoo Brewing (Michigan), Magic Hat Brewing (Vermont), Harpoon
Brewery (Massachusetts), Rogue Ales (Oregon) and Kona Brewery (Hawaii).
Check out the article on Realbeer.com for the details. I'm happy to see Magic Hat in that group. Brings back memories of a Vermont snowboard trip.

“All Things Considered, · Robert Siegel talks about the history of beer with Tom Standage, technology editor at The Economist. A History of the World in Six Glasses is Standage's new book that traces the history of civilization through beer, wine, distilled spirits, coffee, tea and coca cola. Beer was first produced at the end of the ice age and became popular with the Sumarians.”

Last week on NPR they had Michael Jackson take the hosts of All Things Considered on a tasting of good beers. Michael Jackson is a beer expert who wrote Michael Jackson's Great Beer Guide.
Surprisingly several of the beers were from the United States, including: Anchor Steam from San Francisco, Goose Island IPA from Chicago, Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout from Brooklyn (duh), Rogue Smoke from the Pacific Northwest, and Samuel Adams' Utopias from good old Boston.
Check out the descriptions and tastings of these fine beers and others at NRP.

Finally technology solves a worthy problem: how to keep canned beer colder longer.
The secret to the new Labatt can is a wrap-around label, developed by Dupont, with a thin layer of polymer insulation between two layers of Melinex film.
And if that isn’t enough to get you hot about cold:
The insulation fights the three main causes of warm beer - summer heat, condensation and the tight grip of a sweaty palm. Chant said beer will keep cold up to twice as long in the new can. And the new can feels better. “It feels great in your hand, it really does. It's a little bit softer.”
I feel dirty now.
