A-B is Jacking the Pumpkin

I have no idea what that title means.  Anywhoo…

A-B (they make Bud—Weis—Er) are coming out with a pumpkin beer under the Michelob brand which will be called Jack’s Pumpkin Spice. From the article:

Anheuser-Busch has quickened the pace of new products this year as it seeks to drive up sales in a sluggish beer market.

Sluggish only if you are one of the mass producers. Microbrews are seeing a 7% increase. Hmm, maybe they are on to something with their flavor, interesting bottles and labels, and stuff?

Using pumpkin for the fall beer seemed a natural choice, [John Costello, product manager, Michelob Specialty Brands] said. “I like to describe Jack's as a wicked blend of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove and real delicious pumpkins.”

Jeez, you’d think they came up with the idea of making pumpkin beer. Although I haven’t had it yet, I’m going to guess it will be more like “an overpowering blend of cheap pumpkin spice and wickedly mediocre beer” but I’m cynical like that.

The rest of the article is filled with a press release disguised as a news article.

I am Jack’s beer snob.
