Alan at A Good Beer Blog has a post up about blending beers a la the Black and Tan. I hadn't really thought of doing this with other beers but obviously he and his commenters have. Check out the article and the comments for some cool ideas for blends.

OK, they call it the Surger. The geek part of me says “cool”, but the beer drinker says “that sure is a lot of work just to get good head”. What do you think? Would you use this? Pay money for it? Try to find other beverages that would be cool?

Yeah, I know I shouldn't be surprised that a mass-market brewer it putting tons (about 25 tons if they were $1 bills) of money behind launching a new product. But I still marvel at how the mass market will buy beer based on marketing not taste.
