Microbrews: A Ten Year Retrospective

Here's a new beer blog for you. This is a blog with a specific purpose:

The whole premise of this blog is to see how many of the 200+ microbrews and brews featured in MICROBREWS: A GUIDE TO AMERICA'S BEST NEW BEERS AND BREWERIES have survived the craft brew infatuation of the last 20 years or so. I'm using this book because it is ten years old and is the only book I have of its sort. It can be had on Amazon for around a buck plus shipping if you feel the need to have it.

Cool idea. I know that of the few breweries in my area, many have bit the dust (taken a wort nap?).

Beer Keg + Fire = Death

There's a couple lessons here. First, don't put kegs into fires. An exploding keg is thirty pounds of metal that becomes shrapnel. Second, if you see a keg in a fire, stay away. While the details aren't known yet, it sounds like this was just a case of someone doing something stupid and the others around them not knowing about it.

Kelpie Reviewed at A Good Beer Blog

Alan at A Good Beer Blog has a post up about Kelpie. This beer would definitely be in my top ten if I was to create such a list. If you haven't had this yet, be sure to pick it up if you can. In my area, Whole Foods carries it (or did last time I was there).
